Chinas große staatliche Banken haben die meisten Zinssätze für Dollar-Einlagen seit 2023 auf 2,8 % begrenzt. Seit Juni haben Kunden mit Guthaben von über 50.000 Dollar Berichten zufolge Zinssätze von über 3 % ausgehandelt, während einige kleinere Banken und ausländische Kreditinstitute Sätze von fast 4 % anboten.

Banken können diese Dollar dann in US-Staatsanleihen anlegen. Die Rendite 10-jähriger US-Staatsanleihen ist seit Anfang Juni um mehr als 30 Basispunkte auf 4,76 % gestiegen, gestützt durch Inflationssorgen, Bedenken hinsichtlich der US-Verschuldung und stärkere Wachstumserwartungen.

Chinas Deviseneinlagen beliefen sich Ende Juli auf 1,18 Billionen Dollar, was einem Anstieg von 17,9 % gegenüber dem Vorjahr entspricht. Die Zinssätze für Yuan-Einlagen bei den großen staatlichen Banken liegen bei nur 0,95 %.

MARKTREAKTION

Der Yuan hat seit Anfang letzten Jahres fast 9 % gegenüber dem Dollar zugelegt, was den Druck auf die chinesischen politischen Entscheidungsträger erhöht, seinen Anstieg zu bremsen.

Mehr Dollar-Einlagen und Käufe von US-Staatsanleihen im Ausland könnten die Dollar-Liquidität absorbieren, den Druck auf inländische Anleiherenditen mindern und gleichzeitig dazu beitragen, eine weitere Aufwertung des Yuan zu begrenzen.

Chinas Bestände an US-Staatsanleihen über US-Depotbanken fielen im Juni im Jahresvergleich um 13 % auf 633,4 Milliarden Dollar, obwohl Verwahrungsstrukturen es schwierig machen können, diese Zahl genau zu verfolgen.
