Irán ataca, el petróleo se dispara, el oro se hunde: todo en un fin de semana

El aumento de los precios del petróleo y las crecientes expectativas de tasas de interés más altas en EE. UU. están ejerciendo una nueva presión sobre el oro.

El oro prolongó su caída el lunes después de que una renovada acción militar entre Estados Unidos e Irán impulsara al alza los precios del petróleo, lo que generó preocupación por la inflación y redujo la demanda del metal precioso.

El oro al contado cayó un 0,6% a $4.062,89 la onza, mientras que los futuros del oro de EE. UU. para entrega en agosto cayeron un 0,5% a $4.077,50. El oro va camino de registrar una cuarta caída mensual consecutiva, con un descenso del 10,4% durante el período.

Las últimas pérdidas se produjeron tras nuevos ataques tanto de Washington como de Teherán durante el fin de semana. Irán lanzó misiles y drones contra instalaciones militares de EE. UU. en Baréin y Kuwait después de que el presidente Donald Trump advirtiera de graves consecuencias si Irán no respetaba el acuerdo para poner fin al conflicto. Más tarde, Axios informó que ambos países habían acordado pausar las hostilidades y reanudar las conversaciones sobre el estrecho de Ormuz.

Los analistas señalan que unos precios del petróleo más altos podrían mantener la inflación elevada, aumentando la probabilidad de nuevas alzas de tasas por parte de la Reserva Federal. Actualmente, los mercados están descontando tres alzas de tasas de la Fed este año, con cerca de un 80% de probabilidades de otro incremento en diciembre.

Los inversores se centran ahora en el informe de empleo de ADP y en los datos de nóminas no agrícolas de EE. UU. de esta semana, que podrían definir las expectativas sobre la futura política de la Fed. Según Tim Waterer, analista de KCM Trade, el oro podría volver al nivel de los $5.000 a finales de este año si las tensiones geopolíticas se calman, el petróleo retrocede a los niveles anteriores a la guerra y el dólar estadounidense se debilita.
