Anthropic vs Alibaba : de graves révélations d'extraction de données IA portant sur 28,8 millions de messages

Anthropic a accusé le géant technologique chinois Alibaba d'avoir mené ce qu'il décrit comme la plus grande tentative connue d'extraction de capacités de ses modèles d'IA Claude.

Selon une lettre consultée par Reuters, Anthropic affirme que la campagne s'est déroulée du 22 avril au 5 juin 2026, générant plus de 28,8 millions d'interactions avec Claude à travers près de 25 000 comptes frauduleux.

Anthropic explique que l'opération impliquait une technique connue sous le nom de « distillation », dans laquelle un modèle d'IA moins avancé est entraîné à l'aide des réponses d'un modèle plus performant.

L'entreprise allègue que cette tentative était liée à des opérateurs associés à Alibaba et à sa division de recherche en IA, Qwen. Anthropic affirme que l'objectif était d'accélérer l'accès aux capacités offertes par ses modèles avancés Mythos Preview.

La lettre a été envoyée le 10 juin aux sénateurs américains Tim Scott et Elizabeth Warren, en amont d'une audition de la commission bancaire du Sénat consacrée à l'intelligence artificielle.

Anthropic a également pointé du doigt d'antérieures campagnes d'extraction présumées impliquant des entreprises chinoises d'IA, notamment DeepSeek, qui, selon elle, a généré plus de 150 000 échanges, tandis que Moonshot AI a dépassé les 3,4 millions et MiniMax a surpassé les 13 millions.

Ces accusations interviennent alors que Washington renforce sa surveillance de l'accès de la Chine aux technologies d'IA avancées. Plus tôt ce mois-ci, Alibaba a été ajouté à la liste du Pentagone des entreprises militaires chinoises, une désignation que l'entreprise conteste.
