Des hackers chinois ont passé 8 ans au sein des réseaux les plus sensibles du gouvernement américain

Le ministère de la Justice vient de lâcher une bombe : des pirates informatiques soutenus par l'État chinois ont infiltré certains des réseaux les plus sensibles d'Amérique depuis des années.

Washington a officiellement perturbé mercredi une opération de piratage chinoise qui avait infiltré le ministère de la Justice, la NASA, la Réserve fédérale et même le Sénat. Le ministère de la Justice a saisi des domaines liés à deux outils de piratage - QScan et QTRouter - qui étaient derrière les attaques.

Un affidavit du FBI cite comme victimes le ministère de l'Énergie, les Services de santé et des affaires sociales, les Instituts nationaux de la santé, ainsi que quatre entreprises américaines et sud-coréennes. Les pirates s'en sont pris aux infrastructures critiques et aux réseaux sensibles dans le monde entier depuis 2018.

Certaines tentatives ont échoué. En août 2019, ils ont tenté de s'infiltrer à la NASA via une faille de VPN, mais n'ont pas pu y pénétrer. En septembre 2024, ils ont réussi à s'introduire dans trois laboratoires du ministère de l'Énergie, aux NIH et chez un fabricant américain de dispositifs de sécurité.

En mai 2024, ils ont volé des données à des sous-traitants de la défense, des institutions financières et des universités. Le mois dernier encore, ils ont recherché des failles de sécurité au Sénat américain et dans un hôpital, bien que ces tentatives aient également échoué.

Le ministère de la Justice affirme qu'une entreprise chinoise appelée Nanjing Xinjiuwei Network Technology gérait les plateformes, avec des clients comprenant l'agence de renseignement chinoise et son armée. L'entreprise n'a pas répondu aux demandes de commentaires.

L'ambassade de Chine a réagi en déclarant qu'elle s'opposait aux cyberattaques et en accusant les États-Unis d'utiliser la cybersécurité pour salir la Chine.
