I profitti sono balzati dopo che la guerra tra Stati Uniti e Israele contro l'Iran ha ridotto le forniture globali di carburante e spinto al rialzo i prezzi del petrolio. I dirigenti del settore sostengono di avere un controllo limitato sui prezzi al dettaglio del carburante, indicando invece i costi di raffinazione, i vincoli di fornitura, le esportazioni, le scorte, le spese di distribuzione e le tasse. I margini di raffinazione sono saliti vicino ai livelli più alti dal 2022, sostenuti da forniture globali limitate e da una forte domanda di esportazione.
