La storica decisione sui tassi della BOJ mette in allarme i trader di tutto il mondo

La banca centrale del Giappone ha effettuato un altro aumento dei tassi, segnalando che la lotta contro l'aumento dei prezzi è tutt'altro che finita.

La Bank of Japan (BOJ) ha alzato martedì i tassi di interesse al livello più alto degli ultimi 31 anni, portando il tasso di riferimento dallo 0,75% all'1%. La mossa era ampiamente attesa e segna un altro passo lontano dalle politiche ultra-accomodanti che hanno definito l'economia del Giappone per decenni.

La decisione giunge mentre i decisori politici si concentrano sulle pressioni inflazionistiche alimentate dai maggiori costi energetici a seguito del conflitto in Iran, anche se un recente accordo di pace tra Stati Uniti e Iran ha attenuato i timori di uno shock economico più profondo.

La BOJ ha votato 7 a 1 a favore dell'aumento del tasso di riferimento a breve termine all'1%, il livello più alto dal 1995. Il vicegovernatore Shinichi Uchida ha guidato il briefing successivo alla riunione, mentre il governatore Kazuo Ueda è stato assente per sottoporsi a cure mediche.

La banca centrale ha dichiarato che i rischi per la crescita economica derivanti dal conflitto in Medio Oriente si sono attenuati grazie a forniture energetiche alternative. Allo stesso tempo, le imprese stanno trasferendo sempre più i maggiori costi del petrolio sui consumatori, creando una pressione inflazionistica più ampia in tutta l'economia.

I mercati azionari giapponesi hanno accolto favorevolmente la decisione. Il Nikkei 225 è salito fino all'1%, stabilendo un nuovo record sopra quota 70.000.

Inizialmente lo yen si è rafforzato dopo l'annuncio, ma in seguito si è indebolito fino a 160,29 per dollaro USA, rimanendo vicino ai livelli che potrebbero innescare un intervento ufficiale sul mercato dei cambi.

Gli analisti hanno affermato che gli investitori sono rimasti sollevati dal fatto che la BOJ non abbia discusso un aumento maggiore di 50 punti base, rafforzando le aspettative che i futuri rialzi rimarranno graduali.
