630 Gigabytes of Secrets? Hackers Target the Company Behind Your iPhone

โดย

A major cybersecurity incident at Tata Electronics has triggered investigations after hackers claimed to leak sensitive files linked to Apple and Tesla.

Tata Electronics has confirmed a cybersecurity breach after a ransomware group claimed to have published more than 200,000 company files, including documents allegedly linked to Apple and Tesla.

The company said it detected the incident several weeks ago and activated its response protocols immediately. Tata stated that the breach has not affected business operations.

Key Details

Security researchers who reviewed the leaked data told Reuters that the files, totaling more than 630GB, were posted on the dark web by the ransomware group World Leaks.

According to a source familiar with the matter, Apple has launched an investigation, and Tata received a ransom demand connected to the attack.

Researchers said the leaked material appears to include Apple manufacturing documents, component specifications, employee emails, event logs, and passport copies of staff members. Some files reportedly carried confidentiality notices belonging to Apple and Tesla.

Among the documents were files linked to Tesla projects, including material referencing the upgraded Model Y SUV and engineering drawings tied to Project Highland, Tesla’s revamped Model 3.

Tata currently produces roughly one-third of Apple’s iPhones in India, making the company one of Apple's most important manufacturing partners outside China.

Why It Matters

The breach highlights growing cyber risks facing global manufacturers and supply chains. If sensitive product designs or proprietary information were exposed, it could create legal, operational, and reputational challenges for multiple companies.

Investigators are now working to verify the authenticity of the leaked files and determine the full scope of the breach. Traders and investors will be watching for updates from Tata, Apple, Tesla, and Indian cybersecurity authorities in the coming days.
