Die Ölpreise setzten am Donnerstag ihren Rückgang fort und fielen auf ein Niveau, das zuletzt vor Beginn des Iran-Krieges verzeichnet wurde. Händler konzentrierten sich auf das sich erholende Angebot aus dem Nahen Osten, während die Sorgen über mögliche Störungen in der Region weiter nachließen.

Rohöl der Sorte Brent zur Lieferung im August fiel um 1,08 $ oder 1,46 % auf 72,66 $ pro Barrel. Die US-Sorte West Texas Intermediate (WTI) sank um 84 Cent oder 1,19 % auf 69,50 $ pro Barrel. Beide Benchmarks erreichten den niedrigsten Stand seit dem 27. Februar.

US-Energieminister Chris Wright erklärte, dass die Ölströme durch die Straße von Hormus fast wieder das Vorkriegsniveau erreicht haben, wobei in den letzten 24 Stunden mindestens 20 Millionen Barrel die Passage passiert haben. Er wies darauf hin, dass eine vollständige Normalisierung mehrere Wochen dauern könnte, da die Minenräumungsarbeiten noch andauern.

Analysten zufolge haben sich die ausgehenden Exporte aus der Golfregion schneller erholt als der eingehende Verkehr, da Versicherer und Reedereien weiterhin nach stärkeren Sicherheitsgarantien verlangen.

Zusätzlicher Druck kam von den Erwartungen, dass der Iran seine Ölverkäufe nach einer vorübergehenden Lockerung der US-Sanktionen steigern könnte. Goldman Sachs erklärte jedoch, dass selbst bei einer Verlängerung der Sanktionserleichterungen über den 21. August hinaus kein nennenswerter Anstieg der iranischen Produktion zu erwarten sei.

Unterdessen zieht der Irak Berichten zufolge alle Optionen in Betracht, einschließlich eines potenziellen Austritts aus der OPEC, falls seine Produktionsquote nicht erheblich erhöht wird.

An der geopolitischen Front teilte die Ukraine mit, sie habe ein Öldepot in der russischen Region Krasnodar und zwei Raffinerien in der Region Ufa angegriffen.

Energieaktien gerieten unter Druck, da die Rohölpreise nachgaben. Die niedrigeren Ölpreise milderten zudem die Inflationssorgen, während die breiteren Finanzmärkte weiterhin auf die Entwicklungen im Nahen Osten und die politischen Signale der OPEC fokussiert blieben.
