L'aumento dei prezzi del petrolio ha esercitato pressioni sui mercati obbligazionari. I rendimenti decennali statunitensi sono saliti di 1 punto base al 4,46%, mentre i rendimenti decennali tedeschi sono balzati di 4,2 punti base al 2,98%. Il dollaro ha guadagnato lo 0,12% nei confronti dello yen, spingendo la coppia a 159,46, pericolosamente vicina al livello di 160 che storicamente ha innescato l'intervento giapponese.

Le borse europee hanno registrato un leggero calo, poiché i guadagni del settore energetico sono stati controbilanciati dalla debolezza delle compagnie aeree e della difesa. I mercati di Tokyo e Seul si sono mantenuti vicini ai massimi storici.
