Trump’s money managers executed 1,152 trades in July
That works out to roughly 50 transactions a day
More than 28,000 trades have been made since his second inauguration, according to Bloomberg analysis
July activity included SpaceX, RTX, Microsoft and Amazon
The White House says the portfolio is managed independently through third-party institutions
A Portfolio Moving at Full Speed
President Donald Trump’s investment portfolio saw another burst of activity in July, with his money managers executing 1,152 trades, according to his latest financial disclosure.
The pace is striking for a sitting president and continues a pattern of unusually active portfolio management during Trump’s second term.
Key Details
The July transactions included companies such as SpaceX and RTX, which do business with the federal government and operate in industries subject to government regulation.
Some trades were sizable. The disclosure showed as much as $25 million in sales of Microsoft and Amazon shares.
Bloomberg has reported that Trump or his managers made more than 28,000 trades since his second inauguration in January 2025 - more than all members of Congress combined.
Former presidents Joe Biden and Barack Obama did not trade individual stocks, with their portfolios relying mainly on mutual funds and U.S. Treasuries.
Market Reaction
The trading volume itself does not establish wrongdoing. Brett Bernstein, CEO and co-founder of XML Financial Group, said the turnover was high even for an active investor, while noting that tactical portfolio strategies can involve frequent trading.
The White House says Trump’s assets are managed by independent financial institutions using discretionary, computer-based model portfolios.
Why It Matters
For traders, the bigger issue is transparency. The disclosure puts an unusually active portfolio under the spotlight, particularly when holdings involve companies affected by government policy.
Further disclosures could show whether this trading pace continues and which sectors remain most active in Trump’s portfolio.
