Bloomberg, Susquehanna and Jump Trading have signed up for Truth Social’s fast-access API, sources say.
Subscriptions cost between $60,000 and $100,000 a month.
The service can deliver Trump’s posts up to 50 milliseconds faster.
Critics are raising legal and ethical concerns over paid access to a sitting president’s statements.
Trump Media is turning the president’s market-moving social media posts into a premium data service, giving paying clients a potential trading advantage.
A few milliseconds can make a big difference on Wall Street. Bloomberg and two major high-frequency trading firms are reportedly paying for faster access to Donald Trump’s Truth Social posts, a service that could help traders react before the rest of the market.
Key Details
According to people familiar with the deals, Bloomberg, Susquehanna International Group and Jump Trading are among the customers of Truth Social’s API service.
Trump Media launched the product in July, offering subscribers near-instant access to the president’s posts. Company officials have described the timing advantage as 50 milliseconds. Monthly subscriptions reportedly cost between $60,000 and $100,000.
In August, Trump Media told investors it had signed more than 10 customer agreements, mainly with Wall Street trading firms. Reuters could not independently verify that figure.
The service has also attracted scrutiny. Democratic Senators Elizabeth Warren and Adam Schiff asked the SEC to investigate potential securities-law violations. Meanwhile, Intercept Media and the Freedom of the Press Foundation have sued Trump, arguing that paid access could unfairly restrict public access to government information. The case is ongoing.
Market Reaction
Trump’s posts have already shown their ability to move markets. Oil futures plunged in April after he announced a ceasefire in the Iran war on Truth Social.
Trump Media shares have fallen more than 50% this year, leaving the company valued at around $1.8 billion, compared with roughly $8 billion at its March 2024 market debut.
Why It Matters
For algorithmic trading firms, milliseconds can translate into a competitive edge. Faster access to presidential statements could help automated systems react to geopolitical developments, oil prices, and other market-sensitive news before slower participants.
The key question now is whether regulators will challenge the business model and whether Truth Social can turn its premium data service into a lasting revenue stream. Any new regulatory action or market-moving presidential post could put the service back in the spotlight.
